Jacko harbours Chelsea hopes

Posted on 2 April 2004  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

John Jackson is aiming to play a part in what would be the biggest game of his career against Chelsea on Saturday.

A regular in the team since his Premiership debut on Boxing Day, Jacko has yet to face the 'big three' of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United - he didn't make the 16 in the recent trip to Old Trafford.

Now he wants to put that disappointment behind him and play some part in Saturday's clash against the Blues at the Lane, always one of the most eagerly-awaited matches of the season.

He said: "You always want to play against the best and obviously they are right up there alongside Arsenal and Manchester United.

"The top three are probably a long way clear of anything else in the league and you always want to test yourself against that.

"These are massive games. Obviously Arsenal with the rivalry are coming up as well and I was disappointed not to be involved up at Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully I'll be involved and it will make up for that. You want to take on the best.

"I've been impressed with Chelsea. They are entitled to be up there with the money and players they've got but they were nowhere near Arsenal and United last season now they are above United in the table and not that far off Arsenal."
