It's Sol frustrating!

Posted on 14 November 2000 - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Sol Campbell is hoping for the green light to resume full training next week.
Our much-missed skipper will see a specialist on Friday to see whether or not his shoulder is ready for full contact again.
If he gets the all clear the England star expects to have to spend more time on strength work before finally being able to take to the pitch again. It will then be all about match fitness before a long-awaited return to the Premiership.
Sol reported: “Things are going in the right direction. I’m doing a lot of running in the gym and now I’m outside doing feet work and non-contact work.
“I’ll see the surgeon at the end of the week and hopefully he’ll give me the all clear to resume contact training. It will be hard this week and next week doing weights, training, in and out of the gym all week and it’s all about getting the strength back in my arm and my whole body getting used to training again.”
Sol has been out since September 19 and one thing is for sure — the big defender is desperate to get out there again.
“It’s getting on my nerves now and I want to start playing again,” he said. “I’ve got to get fit now in my arm and body but my mind is ready, that’s the main thing. I’ve just got to get my body ready and that will take this week and next week to really get it going.
“After that it’s going to be games. I’m not going to be fit straight away. I’ve got to play games and start all over again — half-an-hour here, 45 minutes there, an hour. I’ll do what I can as time goes on.”
His return could be timed to perfection with massive games against Manchester United (December 2) and Arsenal (December 18) just around the corner.
Sol added: “At least there is still plenty of time in the season to do something. Obviously it’s been tough but the saving grace is that it’s not Christmas yet. That’s the main thing.
“Over the Christmas period there are three games close together and if we can do really well then the whole picture can change.”
To listen to Sol's thoughts, click here
By Paul Miles

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
