'It’s always must-win at home and a bit of a rollercoaster'

After their last minute win against Jamaica at the weekend, Clint Dempsey and his USA teammates have a chance to take a giant step towards the World Cup in 2014 over the next seven days.

'It’s always must-win at home and a bit of a rollercoaster'

The Americans take on Panama in Seattle on Tuesday night before facing Honduras in Utah in a week's time.

Costa Rica, the USA and Mexico are all on seven points at the midway point of the CONCACAF Hexagonal, although Mexico have played a game more than their rivals. The top three sides in the group will qualify automatically for the World Cup at the end of the qualification round.

The Panamanians were top of the Hexagonal before they drew against the Mexicans on Friday and are looking a far superior side to recent years.

Clint knows that the next couple of games will go a long way to determining if the USA will be travelling to Brazil next summer.

"It’s always difficult, especially on the road. That puts pressure to get three points at home," Clint told Spurs TV.

"It’s always must-win at home and a bit of a rollercoaster. If we manage to get good results in the next games it will put us in a good position in the table.

"We’re second at the moment and we’re looking for automatic qualification for the World Cup."
