Chris Hughton assesses the second phase clash between Ireland and Spain and says he would not be surprised to see the Irish progress.
IT IS A difficult one for Ireland. I think Spain has possibly been the European side over recent years that have been underachievers with the quality that they've got.
I think Spain on their day can beat anybody - on their day that is. But, of course, they haven't had enough of those days. Which, says that they can be beaten, very much so.
If you went to the bookies, Spain would be favourites to beat Ireland - but so would lots of other teams.
It's going to be tricky, that's for sure.
When you look at the Irish team, because of the way they are, they would probably go into many games where the bookies would have the opposition team as favourites. I think the Irish team are quite comfortable with that feeling.
It will be the same going into the Spain encounter, but I would not be surprised to see Ireland winning that game.
