Irish eye on Germany

Posted on 11 June 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton casts his eye over a fixture where a nation that has done little wrong in the World Cup is likely to go out - Germany v Cameroon.

GERMANY COULD GO out, Cameroon could go out.

It's the same I suppose as in many of the other groups - it's down to the last game of three. But that is the World Cup and if you're going to progress you need to hold your nerve.

It's like France, they had a lifeline in their last game against Uruguay and could still easily go out - but they could go through by winning sufficiently in their last game against Denmark.

It is hard to pick a winner out of Germany and Cameroon, very much so. If you looked at German sides of the past you would give them the edge. But I can see that one going either way.

I suspect Germany, with their experience when it comes to the crunch games, they have the nous from playing in big games, finals and European club football.

I would edge towards them, for sure - but if I had to put money on it would be a different story!
