There were important World Cup qualifying victories for both Serge Aurier and Ben Davies on Saturday night.

Right-back Serge, our new signing from PSG, played the full 90 minutes for Ivory Coast as they secured a 3-0 victory away to Gabon.

The result saw Ivory Coast, who are managed by former Belgium boss Marc Wilmots, take control of African Group C in their quest for qualification for Russia 2018.

Ben also played the full game as Wales beat Austria 1-0 in Cardiff.

Serbia remain four points ahead of third-placed Wales in European Group D with three games remaining, but Wales are now just two points behind second-placed Republic of Ireland. The group winners automatically qualify for the World Cup finals, while the eight best group stage runners-up enter the play-offs.

On Friday night, young defender TJ Eyoma and midfielder Tashan Oakley-Boothe, who appeared on the bench in our draw with Burnley last week, played 90 minutes for England Under-18s as they drew 0-0 with Brazil in Shrewsbury. Oliver Skipp was an unused substitute. England won a practice penalty shootout 5-4 afterwards.
