Internationals - Tuesday action

Posted on 29 March 2017  - 10:05

The last of the international fixtures involving our players took place on Tuesday, with mixed fortunes for the lads.

Heung-Min Son in action for South Korea against SyriaJan Vertonghen on duty for Belgium against RussiaHugo Lloris intervenes for France against Spain

Heung-Min Son put in a full shift for South Korea as they beat Syria 1-0 in Seoul in World Cup qualifying, while Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele all started for Belgium in their 3-3 friendly draw in Russia.

Toby and Jan, once again captaining the side, played the full game at the back while Mousa was substituted in the 85th-minute.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris captained France in a 2-0 home defeat to Spain – a contest notable for the use of video technology to assist the referee.

Kevin Wimmer was an unused substitute for Austria as they were held 1-1 at home by Finland, as was Michel Vorm for the Netherlands in their 2-1 home defeat by Italy.

Elsewhere, youngsters TJ Eyoma and Tashan Oakley-Boothe both completed 90 minutes for England Under-17s as they rounded off their European Championship elite round qualifiers in Bosnia-Herzegovina with a 1-0 victory against the host nation.
