The 28-year-old goalkeeper completed the full 90 minutes in Lisbon as his side picked up a useful victory in the friendly, thanks to Mathieu Valbuena’s late strike.

Across the Atlantic, Erik Lamela started for Argentina as they thrashed Bolivia 7-0 in a friendly in Houston, Texas, in the early hours of Saturday morning, the 23-year-old being withdrawn after 77 minutes, while DeAndre Yedlin was in action for the US national team in their 2-1 friendly win over Peru in Washington, DC.

The right-sider (pictured in last night's game, below), currently on loan at Sunderland, completed the full 90 minutes and played a key role in the build-up to the States’ second goal mid-way through the second half.

Elsewhere on Friday, Josh Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters were unused substitutes for England Under-19s in their 3-2 friendly win in Germany.

Harry Kane and Ryan Mason are in the senior England squad for their Euro 2016 qualifier away to San Marino in Group E today (Saturday, September 5), kick-off 5pm.

Defender Kevin Wimmer, meanwhile, is with Austria as they host Moldova at 7.45pm in Group G of the same competition.

Elsewhere, youngsters Marcus Edwards, Kazaiah Sterling and Alfie Whiteman are in the England Under-18s squad for the second of two friendlies against the Netherlands this week, while Harry Winks and England Under-20s play host to Czech Republic, also in a friendly.
