Internationals - club team-mates do battle in Nantes

Posted on 30 May 2016  - 22:20

Hugo Lloris went head-to-head with Clinton Njie during the second half of France’s 3-2 win over Cameroon on Monday night (May 30).

Our popular goalkeeper, captain of club and country, was once again on duty for Les Bleus as they warmed up for Euro 2016 by claiming victory in a five-goal thriller in Nantes.

Hugo completed the full game while club team-mate Clinton was introduced as a 70th-minute substitute for Cameroon, with our two former Lyon stars facing off against each other in the last 20 minutes.

And what a thrilling end to the game it was!

The visitors were 2-1 down at the time of Clinton’s arrival but Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting levelled for Cameroon, who are preparing for an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritania on Thursday, with just two minutes of normal time remaining.

However, France weren’t willing to settle for a draw and in the 90th minute, Dimitri Payet sent a free-kick arrowing into the top corner to secure the win for the Euro 2016 hosts.

France take on Scotland in their final pre-tournament warm-up game on Saturday, June 4.
