Internationals - first senior USA start for Carter-Vickers

Wed 28 March 2018, 12:14|Tottenham Hotspur

The final international fixture of the current programme involving one of our players took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning – and it marked a significant milestone for young defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The 20-year-old, currently on loan at Ipswich Town in the Championship, earned rave reviews on his first senior start for the USA, helping his nation secure a 1-0 win over Paraguay in front of a sold-out crowd at Sahlen’s Stadium in Cary, North Carolina.

It was only Cameron’s second senior cap, but he made an impression over the 90 minutes and, post-match, USA Head Coach Dave Sarachan said: “The centre-backs were outstanding. Carter-Vickers and (Matt) Miazga didn’t put a foot wrong. They played with confidence and physicality. They were a pair that looked like they had been there before.”

Several of our players were in international action on Tuesday night – recap how they got on here…

With the international break over, attentions now turn back to the Premier League and our huge London derby with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (kick-off 4pm).
