Christian struck for Denmark 17 minutes into their home clash with Armenia in Group E following a good back-heeled assist by Middlesbrough’s Viktor Fischer – a goal that proved enough to give his nation a 1-0 win.

Christian could have doubled his tally, but saw his 72nd-minute penalty saved by Armenia goalkeeper Arsen Beglaryan.

In Group F, Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker all started for England while Dele Alli (pictured, below) proved a lively influence off the bench just after the hour mark as the Three Lions won 1-0 away to Slovakia in Sam Allardyce’s first game as manager.

England put the pressure on following the sending-off of Martin Skrtel and in the end it was Adam Lallana who popped up with the winner deep into stoppage time following Danny’s good work on the left side of the area.

Eric, Kyle and Danny completed the full game while Harry was replaced by Daniel Sturridge with 82 minutes gone.

Elsewhere, Victor Wanyama played for Kenya in their 1-1 draw away to Zambia in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying while Josh Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters both completed 90 minutes for England Under-20s as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Brazil at Kidderminster.
