Tom Carroll and Harry Kane were joined in the starting line-up by Alex Pritchard, who impressed as a substitute in Thursday’s narrow loss to Portugal, as England picked up their first three points in Group B thanks to an 85th-minute strike from Jesse Lingard.

Harry went close to breaking the deadlock with a first half diving header that sailed just past the foot of the post – the striker once again completing the full match.

Alex limped off injured 10 minutes into the second half, while Tom was substituted 17 minutes from time.

England meet Italy in their final group game on Wednesday evening, kick-off 7.45pm UK time (8.45pm local).
