Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen played 90 minutes at centre-half and left-back respectively as the Red Devils secured their first victory under new boss Roberto Martinez, seeing off Cyprus 3-0 away from home in their opening 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Mousa Dembele was an unused substitute for the Group H contest.
In Group A, Vincent Janssen (pictured, below) put in a solid shift for the Netherlands as they came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 in Sweden while Moussa Sissoko started and played 69 minutes for France as they were held to a goalless draw away at Belarus.
Elsewhere, Erik Lamela started for Argentina in their 2-2 draw away to Venezuela in the South American bracket of World Cup qualifying. He was substituted half-way through the second period.
With our players having now completed their international fixtures, all focus now turns to Saturday’s return to Premier League action at Stoke City, kick-off 3pm.
