Younes Kaboul and Giovani experienced mixed fortunes on international duty on Thursday night.
Defender Younes followed up scoring on his senior debut for France against Ukraine on Monday by being named in Laurent Blanc's starting line-up for the friendly against Poland in Warsaw.
But Younes' night only last 27 minutes, when he limped off injured. France won 1-0.
Meanwhile, Giovani - on loan at Racing Santander in Spain last season - scored twice as Mexico booked their place in the quarter-final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in America with a 5-0 hammering of Cuba.
'Gio' scored the second and fourth goals in Charlotte, North Carolina. Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez also scored twice.
Mexico have won both group matches 5-0 in the tournament and play their final group match against Costa Rica on Sunday.
The spotlight now turns to Danny Rose and Kyle Walker in the European Under-21 Championship Finals and their group opener against Spain on Sunday.
