Three of our players added to their caps tally as England beat Macedonia 1-0 in European Championship qualifying on Wednesday night.

Paul Robinson and Jermain Defoe both started with Aaron Lennon coming on for Jermain in the second half to make it 29, 19 and seven caps respectively for the trio.

Jermain had a couple of half-chances in the first half in Skopje before Peter Crouch secured the win just a minute after the break.

Teemu Tainio played the full 90 minutes as Finland made it four points out of a possible six in Group with a 1-1 draw against Portugal. However, it could have been better on the night - Portugal were reduced to 10 men early in the second half but the Finns couldn't find a winner.

Marton Fulop was on the bench again as Hungary beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 3-1 in Zenica.

Meanwhile, Lee Young-Pyo started both matches as South Korea drew 1-1 with Iran on Saturday before hammering Chinese Taipei 8-0 on Wednesday in the Asian Cup qualifying.

Another of our number on international duty this week was reserve central defender Leigh Mills, who featured in the first half of England's Under-19 friendly against Holland at the Bescott Stadium. The matched finished all square at 0-0.
