The defender was part of a young Welsh team that won plenty of plaudits for a 3-0 win against Norway ay Wrexham. It was the 18-year-old's fourth cap. Ex-Spur Simon Davies captained the side.

Robbie Keane skippered the Republic of Ireland side in a narrow 1-0 defeat against Brazil at Croke Park, Robinho grabbing the winner in the second half.

Dimitar Berbatov played 82 minutes as Bulgaria beat Northern Ireland thanks to Martin Petrov's deflected strike.

Away from the friendly action, Young-Pyo Lee enjoyed the perfect start to South Korea's World Cup qualifying campaign with a 4-0 win against Turkmenistan.

Didier Zokora's Ivory Coast take on Egypt in the semi-final of the African Cup of Nations today (Thursday February 7).
