International affair at the Lane

Posted on 11 May 2016  - 01:32

If you thought our match against Southampton was the last action seen at the Lane this season, you were mistaken.

The following day saw football fans from the other side of the world, including New Zealand, Indonesia, China and Malaysia, take to the hallowed turf in the inaugural AIA Championships.

The competition brought together 14 teams from the Asia-Pacific region to battle it out for the chance of playing at the famous stadium, with the four top sides visiting London last weekend.

It was the team from New Zealand that emerged victorious on the day following a 2-1 final victory over an Indonesian side that included Bambang Pamungkas - a man who has earned over 80 senior international caps for his country.
