In South America, Erik Lamela saw action as Argentina – already qualified for next summer’s finals – slipped to a 3-2 defeat against Uruguay.
Erik started the match, which saw Argentina twice come from a goal down to draw level in the first half, before Uruguay snatched what turned out to be the winner five minutes after the break.
Erik, who picked up a caution in the 18th minute, was substituted 14 minutes from time.
Despite winning, Uruguay missed out on an automatic qualification place, and must now try and navigate their way to Brazil via the play-offs.
