The French striker is back on his feet after badly damaging ankle ligaments in a tackle at Leicester City on October 19.
With Simon Davies also stepping up his rehabilitation after seven weeks out it's been a positive week from the treatment room for the caretaker manager.
"There is quite optimisitic news," said David this afternoon. "Simon Davies is beginning to jog around and hopefully will be striking balls by next week. I'm sure he has Wales' Euro 2004 play-offs, two very important internationals, at the back of his mind as well.
"Jamie Redknapp is still undergoing his treatment but there is further good news in that Fredi Kanoute is out now doing a little remedial work with the physio, going through a few exercises and a little joging.
"Christian Ziege's injury may not be as bad as first feared as well and Christian will work very hard over the next few weeks to recover from that knee ligament strain."
David Pleat has good news on the injury front - Fredi Kanoute has started to jog again.
