Martin Jol leapt to the defence of Paul Robinson after Andy Johnson's equaliser for Palace on Tuesday.
Robbo - who produced one of his best saves of the season to keep Johnson out in the first half - appeared unsighted as the striker's 25-yard effort travelled through bodies and crept into the bottom corner to secure Palace a point.
Fingers were being pointed in Martin's post-match press conference but he countered: "Johnson turned on the ball and it wasn't 15 or 18 yards but 25 yards, so it's very difficult.
"Someone could have blocked it but he saw it very late.
"Paul Robinson in my opinion is the best goalkeeper in England and I just believe it was a terrific shot with a lot of pace.
"He's done well in a lot of games - if you've kept eight cleans sheets, you must have a good goalkeeper."
