This is contrary to our ground regulations and our license from the Football Licensing Authority.
As the new season approaches it is essential that we reiterate how important this issue has become. The Club is required by law to take action to prevent persistent standing and if we fail, there is a genuine risk that we could lose our license or have to shut part or all of our ground because the Authorities have reduced our capacity.
In addition, over the course of last season, the Club received correspondence from a number of supporters whose matchday experience had been ruined by other fans standing in front of them. These letters and emails came from supporters who are unable to stand for long periods, such as senior citizens and young fans.
Clearly to solve this issue we need the help of the supporters, so once again the Club would like to ask for your cooperation. We appreciate that football is an exciting and passionate game and that at various points in a match, supporters will stand. However, we ask supporters not to persistently stand and to bear in mind the risk of the ground being closed if they do and the impact standing has on the enjoyment and experience of fellow supporters.
We would also like to remind fans that if they do persistently stand, they risk ejection from the Stadium or confiscation of their Season Ticket or Club Membership as outlined in the terms and conditions agreed to by supporters when purchasing their Season Ticket and Club Membership.
Your cooperation in helping make White Hart Lane a safe and enjoyable place for everyone is very much appreciated.
As many supporters will be aware, over the last few seasons we have seen an increase in the number of spectators standing throughout the match.
