However, with the trip to the Stadium of Light looming large, Teemu wasn’t bothered about the physical edge in a ‘friendly’ encounter.
“They certainly liked a tackle!” smiled Teemu, who was on the end of a couple himself. “But it will be physically tough like that at Sunderland on Saturday, so in that respect it was an ideal game for us.
“Of course, it will 50 times tougher against Sunderland and we have to be ready for that.
“We wanted to win against Torino to keep the confidence going leading up to Sunderland and it’s always important to win at home in front of our fans.”
Teemu played 65 minutes in his third outing of pre-season following a lengthy stint injured during the summer.
“I feel fully fit and that’s the main thing,” he said. “Torino was my third game - in the first I played half-hour, the second 80 minutes, this time 60 minutes and I feel good.”
All those appearances have been on the right, the latest role the versatile Teemu looks set to fill. “I’ve played more on the right or left than in the middle in the last couple of seasons, so I’m used to it now. I was just happy to be back in the first team and feeling fit again.”
