Jermain Defoe's smile said it all after he poached the opening goal in Saturday's 3-0 FA Cup win against Cheltenham.
Niko Kranjcar's pass released Giovani and the Mexican cleverly lifted the ball over the advancing Cheltenham goalkeeper Scott Brown.
The ball looked on its way in but Jermain's striking instincts took over and he slid it over the goal-line.
You could see the pair laughing together on the pitch and Gio got his goal in the end, a deflected effort looped home to complete the scoring four minutes from time after Roman Pavlyuchenko had made it 2-0 just before the interval.
Jermain was naturally in for a bit of banter afterwards.
"Gio and the lads said after the game ‘you took his goal’ and I said ‘come on, it’s in the blood! What do you want me to do?’" laughed JD, now on 11 for the season and 112 for the club.
"I didn’t even want to do it, but I did it. What can I say? I couldn’t stop. The ball was there, the goal was there and it’s like a magnet.
"I scored, but it doesn’t matter who scores. We won and we’re through to the next round, that’s what matters."
