I confess: Spot of bother

Posted on 3 August 2001 - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

From Dave Burden, Biggleswade
I was lucky enough to be at the 1981 FA Cup semi-final v Wolves at Highbury. At the final whistle many of us ran on to the pitch to celebrate. A friend of mine dug out the penalty spot from the north bank end and to my knowledge it still sits in his back garden to this day. My own confession is that at the time I was only 16 and when I got home I got in a lot of trouble with my Mum who saw me in the middle of the pitch on the closing credits of Sportsnight. She still let me go to the final though.

From Ed Partridge, Manningtree
Back in the 80's when I was Junior Spur, we played Monaco (as part of Glenn Hoddle's transfer I believe) and were soundly thrashed both times 5-0 and 4-1. The second time Monaco came myself and my mate Ash were sat in the members’ end waiting for the inevitable Monaco goal and, sure enough, we didn't have to wait long. The second goal came soon after and Ash and myself got up and cheered long and hard. Come the third goal everyone around us joined in our celebrations. The rest of the evening was spent cheering every Monaco pass, every time Glenn touched the ball, every time Glenn went near the ball, every time Glenn looked at the ball.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The next week there was letter in the programme remarking on the disgraceful attitude of some of the younger element of the members’ end.
Fame at last!
From Lewis Holland
I went to see Arsenal play Barcelona at Wembley in the Champions League and I found myself feeling sad that they were getting thrashed.
