I Confess: An Arsenal childhood

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

We used to cheer them on but as I grew older and wiser I started to support Spurs. My dad did not talk to me for weeks and we used to always row.<o:p></o:p></SPAN> <P class=MsoNormal style="mso-layout-grid-align: none"><SPAN style="mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt">He used to hide my Spurs kits and hats so, as a joke, I ripped up his ticket to the FA Cup final which Arsenal were in and he went ballistic. </SPAN><SPAN style="mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt">It was not a pretty sight, that was 2 years ago and I am still grounded.<o:p></o:p></SPAN> <P class=MsoNormal style="mso-layout-grid-align: none"><SPAN style="mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt">PS. I did not have a brain when I was 7 and 8.<o:p></o:p></SPAN> <P class=MsoNormal style="mso-layout-grid-align: none"><B><SPAN style="mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt">From Paul Harvey-Browne</SPAN></B><SPAN style="mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt"> (Guildford)<o:p></o:p></SPAN> <P class=MsoNormal style="mso-layout-grid-align: none"><SPAN style="mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt">This is not really a confession more of an amusing story.<o:p></o:p></SPAN> <P class=MsoNormal style="mso-layout-grid-align: none"><SPAN style="mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt">Back in 1994, when my brother Michael was only 8, we went to watch a Spurs friendly at non-league Walton and Hersham.<o:p></o:p></SPAN> <P class=MsoNormal style="mso-layout-grid-align: none"><SPAN style="mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt">When we arrived, he was desperate for the toilet. Without realising, he ran straight into the Spurs team dressing room, mistaking the small hut for the public toilets. Seconds later he came out bright red in the face with Gary Mabbutt leading him to the toilets, chuckling away to himself.<o:p></o:p></SPAN> <P>Later, during the game, when Gary came over to take a throw in he gave my brother a wink, more out of a sign of relief than anything.</SPAN>
