Hull 1-2 Spurs - Mauricio's verdict

Mauricio Pochettino pointed to a ‘different attitude’ in the second half as we turned around a 1-0 deficit to grab another last-gasp win on the road at Hull on Sunday.

Christian Eriksen’s 25-yard strike into the bottom corner in the 90th minute sparked great celebrations between players and our travelling fans as we secured a 2-1 victory at the KC Stadium.

Trailing at half-time to ex-Spur Jake Livermore’s goal in the eighth minute, we found ourselves up against 10 men five minutes into the second half after Gaston Ramirez was dismissed.

Harry Kane soon levelled with a sharp finish after Christian’s free-kick cannoned back off the post for his 11th goal of the campaign.

The chances flowed – Harry headed just wide from Aaron Lennon’s cross, Roberto Soldado fired wide, Erik Lamela blasted over and Ryan Mason forced a fine save from Allan McGregor.

Despite racking up 22 efforts at goal, it looked like we might be denied maximum points until Christian delivered in fine style when it mattered.

“We conceded an early goal and it was difficult to manage the game in the first half,” reflected Mauricio.

“But from the start of the second half we showed a different attitude, we were more aggressive and I think we played very well in the second half.

“It wasn’t easy but in the end we deserved the victory. It was important for the supporters, the club and for the players.”

Although delighted with the team’s character to dig out the win, Mauricio added: “We need to be a pro-active team, not a reactive team.

“This is what we have to keep in our minds and never wait, always go out to be aggressive and pro-active. That’s one thing we need to change a little, step by step, we need to improve in this area.

“It’s an important victory and we are all happy. We worked hard, we deserved the win and we all enjoyed the result.”
