It was the perfect end to an emotional week for Hugo Lloris.

First, the Spurs and France captain stood proudly with his team-mates and the West Ham squad in the centre-circle to sing La Marseillaise to resounding applause from all corners of White Hart Lane in a final tribute to those affected by the sad events in Paris on November 13.

Hugo was then a spectactor for long periods as we dominated against West Ham, eventually running out 4-1 winners to make it 12 matches unbeaten in the Premier League - equalling our PL record.

“For me personally, it was easier to play football today,” Hugo told us afterwards, as he reflected on La Marseillaise being played at the Lane.

“It was a great moment to share with the Spurs fans. One more time we felt the support and solidarity from the English people and when you are French, you can feel very proud of that.

“I thought we showed all around the world, not just England and France, the example of playing (football) and giving pleasure to fans. Life has to carry on. We are lucky to play football, lucky to be actors in a sport and we have to show the right example.”

As for the victory, Hugo simply echoed the thoughts of everyone involved. “We were fantastic. It was a great team performance - there is nothing more to say,” he added.

“It was great for the confidence to score the four goals and I think our fans now understand the style of football we are playing. We can feel that from the pitch.”
