No-one needs reminding of what happened the last time we travelled to St James' Park at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Suffice to say, as soon as the players found out we were back in Toon for the first day of this season, they wanted to put right that painful 5-1 loss that day.
A couple of months on from the original release of the fixtures in June and we're ready for the big kick-off - and skipper Hugo Lloris leads the chorus from the squad determined to erase that memory for good, and return with a positive result on the season's opening weekend.
Hugo said: “I can remember how gutted we felt after that game, we felt so responsible for the defeat.
"But it belongs to the past, maybe it belongs to the whole process to get to this level.
"If it (remembering that day) can help us on Sunday, why not? But I don’t think we need this as motivation.
"Our motivation has to be from the changing room, from our ambition and we are looking up. We want to do well for ourselves, the club, the fans and the whole Spurs community.
"So that result is part of the past and we are looking forward. Our minds will be ready to compete from the first second of this game.”
