The France captain now knows who his team will play on home soil after Les Blues were drawn against Romania, Albania and Switzerland for next summer’s tournament.
Hugo will proudly lead out his country as France kick-off the tournament against Romania in Paris on Friday, June 10.
“For every player, this draw was a good moment,” said Hugo. “And for me, there were always two big dates – first, the draw and the second, the first game.
“Now we have an idea of what we can expect, at least for the group stage.
“It could have been worse but it’s getting more and more difficult every season in international football. Every team is organised.
“Romania is a good team, we played Albania in friendlies and drew and lost and Switzerland are a good European nation. It’s not an easy group.”
