Hugo calls for concentration

Hugo Lloris says focus will be key if we’re to see off Qarabag in the Europa League this evening (Thursday, September 17).

Our goalkeeper and captain is anticipating a difficult test as we get our Group J campaign underway against the Azerbaijani side at White Hart Lane.

With tough trips to Monaco and Anderlecht coming up in the next few weeks, the France international has urged his team-mates to concentrate on taking three points on home soil this evening in a bid to get off the mark in the group stage at the earliest opportunity.

“Each game is important in Europe and we know tonight we need a first win,” he said.

“We expect a tough game – European competition is always hard so we need to be focused and have the mentality of winning.

“Our next two games are away against some more very good teams in Anderlecht and Monaco, but we need to go as far as possible in the competition.

“There is also a possibility to get into the Champions League if you get to the Europa League Final and win. For now, we are focused on the group stage and the target is to finish first.”
