Chris Hughton offers his regular assessment of our forthcoming opponents, this time Fulham who visit the Lane in the Barclays Premiership on Saturday...
OUR DEFEAT TO Fulham back in October is probably regarded as one of our poorest performances of the season. At the time they had not enjoyed the best of starts while our form up until then had been okay and we had got a few good results away from home.
It was one that stuck with us for a while. What we saw on that day was what Fulham are capable of when they put it together. They are a hard working outfit and are good on the ball - they are capable of winning a lot of football matches.
I saw Fulham play at home to Aston Villa, where there were three penalties missed in one game. It was fairly typical set-up from the last couple of years, where Fulham certainly haven't gone down the traditional 4-4-2 route.
On this occasion they played four at the back, two wide players in Radzinski and Boa Morte and two players that sat a little deeper in midfield - Diop and Pembridge. Clark, who has been a fabulous player for them and they missed him while he was out, played behind Cole in, more or less, a free role. I would imagine he enjoys this as he is a very gifted player on the ball.
Fulham are an excellent passing side and play whatever system they employ very well. If they get beaten it is generally not going to be heavily and you can tell the work ethic and passing game that is demanded.
