Chris Hughton takes his regular look at our forthcoming opponents - next up, Manchester City in the Barclays Premiership on Saturday afternoon...
CITY ARE A side who have highs and lows. Joey Barton is back in midfield and he gives them a bit of bite and Wright-Phillips is having a fantastic season and sparks off a lot of the good things that they do.
You can have that at a club where one or two players are are having a good time and can spark everyone else. You see that at several clubs.
Jonathan Macken has come in and done well because Anelka has been out. The game is in Manchester and that's a very difficult proposition. We know they are capable of exciting football and scoring goals.
They are probably benefitting from the fact that they are consistent at the back. I've known Richard Dunne for years and we've always known the type of player he is and qualities he's had. His argument would be that he hasn't played consistently and at times out of position at right-back. This is the most consistent spell he's had and it comes hand in hand with them getting more consistent results. It's not just Dunne, Distin in is his third season and keeping the personnel the same has helped.
One thing City always have is a flow to their game and we always speak of the attacking side of the game, which they've always had. Catch them on a good day and they are capable of scoring goals and getting the crowd going. We would like to catch them on a day where they don't do so well to give ourselves an opportunity.
