GO BACK a few weeks and I think all Charlton wanted was to have a fighting chance to stay in the league at this stage of the season, and that’s what they have. Other teams have been drawn into it as well.
They will look at it as a game they need to win, a home game for them, a passionate crowd, a London derby and they will use all that to try and get a result. They will be fired up for it.
I would expect them to go with a 4-4-2 system. Darren Bent, a wonderful goalscorer for them, will be up front probably with Marcus Bent.
They have options in the wide areas where it’s a case of two from three with Thomas, Rommedahl and Ambrose. Song has been involved centrally with Matty Holland.
The problem they have at the back is with Ben Thatcher out suspended, so we’d expect Hreidarsson to play left-back, Luke Young, who we all know well, on the right and centrally Karkouri and Diawara, who has played there. Carson has also enjoyed a good season in goal.
Everyone remembers last season, when we came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2. I think as a team, you gain something when you come back like that.
We’ll take a vocal support to the Valley, it’s on television and it will be a big one – our only concern is trying to get the three points and we’ll do all we can to do that.
