READING have enjoyed a fine first season in the Premiership and are worthy of both the position they are in and the plaudits they have received.
You can't take away the quality they have in the squad - players like Sidwell and Harper, very good footballers, Hunt gives them drive and energy down the left, Shorey has great quality at left-back and the options they've got up front, including Doyle. What a find he's been.
That's the quality and in addition, they have wonderful team ethic. The play the game in the right way and are a good footballing side. If you want to be in the positions in the league that count then you need to score goals and certainly Doyle has done that and Lita is sharp as anything.
Generally they line-up in a 4-4-2 system. I saw them play at home game against Manchester United in the FA Cup, they changed their shape, which is unusual for them and conceded a couple of early goals. They then changed back, scored and put United under a lot of pressure in the latter stages.
The consistent members defensively are Murty at right-back and Shorey, who has had a wonderful season at left-back. They've changed at centre-half with Bikey coming in and doing well, Ingimarsson and Gunnarsson their other options. Ingimarsson has sometimes shifted into midfield.
Sidwell and Harper are two fine players in the middle of the park, Sidwell driving them on with Hunt on the left and Little on the right. They then have a choice up front with Doyle, Lita and Sidwell.
It's a tough one for us, particularly with the season they've had. But we're in the areas we want to be and to continue to make progress, we have to win league games and this is the next one.
