Chris Hughton takes a close look at the promoted teams we'll face next season in this Hughton's Notes special - last but by no means least, play-off winners Watford...

The surprise package of the season, Adrian Boothroyd's team were tipped for relegation from the Championship last summer, but they confounded those predictions by finishing third in the table during the regular season and then hammering Leeds United 3-0 in the play-off final.

Here are Chris’s thoughts on the men from Vicarage Road…

“Reading won the Championship comfortably, Sheffield United were always in a strong position but if anything Watford were the form team and it was no surprise to a lot of people seeing them go into the play-off final and then winning it.

“At the start of the season in all honesty you would have said it would be a surprise for them to be promoted, simply because of where they’d finished in the previous couple of seasons.

“You have to hand to the manager Adrian Boothroyd, he’s had a fantastic response from the players and you have to back his judgement of the players that came in - DeMerit, for example, was a centre-back who they picked up from non-league.

“They are not a team of individuals but a team that work hard for each other with a great team spirit and you sense most of that stems from the manager.â€Â
