Glenn Hoddle and the lads travelled to the training camp for their first week of pre-season work last Sunday. They will be back at Spurs Lodge next week.
First team coach Chris revealed that the days had been broken up into three separate sessions — with the first starting at 6.30am!
Chris said: “The first session is at six-thirty in the morning.
“That’s not designed as a punishment or anything, it’s just necessary if you want to get three sessions in. The middle of the day gets very hot. The second session is at 11am and the third at 7pm.
“The lads have responded well to the training and I’d expect that because they are a good group. We wouldn’t expect anything else.
“Even though it’s a nice working environment this is a working week.
“We have three sessions a day, plenty of rest in-between and that is important because if they don’t they will find it hard.
“In effect, all they are doing is training, resting and eating well — there is no golf or tennis. It’s been about hard work and it's been a hard week.”
Chris Hughton insisted our week in La Manga has been anything but a holiday in the Spanish sun.
