Hughton backs Mersey men

<FONT size=2><P><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial&#59; FONT-SIZE: 10pt&#59; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">Chris Hughton has had a close look at both Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks &mdash&#59; and he&rsquo&#59;s tipping the Reds from Merseyside for FA Cup glory on Saturday.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p></SPAN><P class=MsoNormal><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial&#59; FONT-SIZE: 10pt&#59; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">First team coach Chris helped prepare us for the FA Cup semi-final against the Gunners and ran the rule over Liverpool before our Premiership meeting at Anfield last month.<o:p></o:p></SPAN><P class=MsoNormal><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial&#59; FONT-SIZE: 10pt&#59; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">He predicts a close encounter at Cardiff&rsquo&#59;s Millennium Stadium with Liverpool coming out on top by the only goal &mdash&#59; picking out their defence as the key.<o:p></o:p></SPAN><P class=MsoNormal><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial&#59; FONT-SIZE: 10pt&#59; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">Chris said: &ldquo&#59;It will be very close between two of the best sides in the country with some of the most exciting players around on their day.<o:p></o:p></SPAN><P class=MsoNormal><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial&#59; FONT-SIZE: 10pt&#59; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">&ldquo&#59;Arsenal will possibly be fresher with Liverpool&rsquo&#59;s recent programme but this is such a one-off game that almost becomes immaterial.<o:p></o:p></SPAN><P class=MsoNormal><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial&#59; FONT-SIZE: 10pt&#59; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">&ldquo&#59;There are so many key areas. Certainly both teams have forward players who can hurt anyone - the likes of Owen, Henry, Fowler and both have so many players who they can bring off the bench.<o:p></o:p></SPAN><P class=MsoNormal><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial&#59; FONT-SIZE: 10pt&#59; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">&ldquo&#59;But whoever has the meanest defence on the day could be the key and Liverpool have been most consistent in terms of players they pick, that back four tends to stay the same, and if they have a good day they might nick it.&rdquo&#59;<o:p></o:p></SPAN><P class=MsoNormal><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial&#59; FONT-SIZE: 10pt&#59; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">Chris played in three FA Cup Finals for us in 1981, 1982 and 1987 and knows better than most both what this final means to players and how they will feel as the build up reaches its climax.<o:p></o:p></SPAN><P class=MsoNormal><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial&#59; FONT-SIZE: 10pt&#59; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">He added: &ldquo&#59;Even with all that Liverpool and Arsenal have achieved, the success in various competitions, this will be a special day. Even the build up is different.<o:p></o:p></SPAN><P><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial&#59; FONT-SIZE: 10pt&#59; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt&#59; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'&#59; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB&#59; mso-fareast-language: EN-US&#59; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA">&ldquo&#59;One thing is guaranteed though. If you speak to the foreign players on both sides this is the one competition they have all heard about and all want to play in.
