Hughton aims for Valley high

English Barclays Premiership

Chris Hughton is expecting a tough time at The Valley on Wednesday night.

He takes his reserve team to Charlton in the FA Premier Reserve League looking to build on the first win of the season against Watford at St Albans last week.

But Hughton is all-too aware that Charlton are seen as one of the best reserve outfits out there — they finished runners-up last season and won the Avon Insurance Combination crown the season before.

Hughton commented: “We’ll be looking to build on the win against Watford but this will be a difficult game.

“I would expect Charlton to be quite strong and generally if I look at how they have progressed in the last few years even when they haven’t had the strongest team on paper they’ve always done very well.

“Their league position in the last two or three years has always been right at the top and they won it two years ago

“So I’m expecting a tough game but after the win last week we’re certainly looking forward to the game. It’s at The Valley as well, which is a nice bonus and we’re in a position at the moment where we not too badly off with injuries.”

Hughton will certainly field a strong side including Darren Anderton, Chris Armstrong, Ledley King, Willem Korsten, Matthew Etherington and Jose Dominguez.

Expected starting line-up: Kelly, Hillier, Thelwell, King, Piercy, Gower, Anderton, Korsten, Etherington, Armstrong, Dominguez. Subs: McEwen, Kamanan, Lacy, Consorti.
