Hughes excels as U19s fall

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE

Spurs U19s 2-1 Leicester City U19s

Mark Hughes' excellent display and Michael Malcolm's late goal was scant consolation after a poor first half display in Saturday's encounter.

Coach Pat Holland was far from impressed with the lads first half show that saw them trail 2-0 at the interval.

In the end Hughes helped turn the second half around but having missed chances, Malcolm's goal was too little, too late.

Pat reflected: "There was a strong wind that favoured Leicester in the first half but in fairness, it was a bit like the Palace game after we played them in the Youth Cup in that we started poorly and didn't get to grips with the game.

"I was very disappointed with them in the first half, 2-0 down and changed it straight away.

"We moved it to a four at the back, brought Mark Hughes on and he was outstanding for us.

"We needed an early goal and had a few opportunities to get it at the start of the second half and if we had, I think we would have gone on to win it.

"In the end, it wasn't until the 80th minute that we scrambled a goal in but it was a different side in the second half. It was just a pity about the first half."
