The Bees travel to White Hart Lane in the second round, second leg after holding us to a 0-0 draw in the first leg at Griffin Park.
We are odds-on favourites to progress and our assistant boss said: "Cup games, at this stage, are all about winning and getting through to the next round.
"Football at times can be a great leveller especially when you are playing the likes of Brentford from the Second Division. We have to make sure that our attitude and approach to the game is 100-per-cent correct.
"I thought Brentford's approach was very good in the first leg. Obviously playing against a Premier League side they were well up for it, which you would expect and I thought they showed a lot of commitment to the club.
"We know it will be another hard game and from out point of view the most important thing is that we progress to the next round."
It is potentially another frustrating 90 minutes for us with Brentford likely to defend in numbers.
That was certainly the case against Manchester City on Saturday and Stewart added: "The way the games go in the Premier League and at all levels now teams make it very difficult for you, especially at home.
"They can sit behind the ball, defend deep and try to catch you on the break. Some teams do that, not all, but when you are up against that I always think you have to be more creative and obviously score a goal for them to come out and make it into a more open game. But while it is 0-0 or 1-1 teams will be happy to do that at White Hart Lane."
