Our Under-18s were pegged back twice in a 2-2 draw against Watford in the Premier Academy League on Saturday.
Laste Dombaxe (pictured) curled home a free-kick to open the scoring in the 26th minute but Watford struck back just before half-time.
Kenneth McEvoy then converted after good work from Lee Angol four minutes into the second half but the home side hit back again, grabbing an equaliser in the 57th minute.
Angol and Daniel Akindayini both saw chances cleared off the line in the closing stages as it stayed 2-2.
"It wasn't a classic, but on one level we've been to Watford in recent seasons and been beaten physically and this season we competed, so that was a positive," reported coach Alex Inglethorpe.
"We huffed and puffed but overall didn't play in the style we want.
"Laste lifted a free-kick up and over the wall and home for 1-0 and that's something he's practised a lot in training.
"We thought that might give us the impetus to go on but it didn't and Watford equalised from a situation where we might have defended better.
"Lee Angol did really well for the second goal, showed great skill to hold the ball under pressure before finding Kenneth McEvoy, who finished well.
"Again, we thought that might just be the spark we needed but Watford pushed on and deserved to equalise after a sustained period of pressure.
"It was a bit scrappy after that, we had a couple of chances, they did as well and perhaps a draw was the right result."
