Leo Brown, from Enfield will have the experience of a lifetime on Saturday when he attempts to ‘Hit the Bar’ for £10,000 at half time during the Southampton match at the Lane.
64 year-old Leo, originally from Dublin, won the opportunity via a promotion run by sponsors Holsten at the Inn on the Green, Palmers Green. As part of the prize Leo will be taking his wife Bridget and Hughie, the landlord from the Inn, and his wife Anne. Leo’s son is a Spurs season ticket holder so will be there to watch his father in action.
Leo will have two opportunities to strike the ball against the crossbar from the edge of the penalty area in front of the South Stand in full view of both Spurs and Saints fans. If either shot hits the crossbar Leo will be £10,000 better off.
"Hitting the bar from 18 yards may not seem that difficult," said Andrew Edge, Marketing Director Holsten UK. "But in front of 36,000 fans it’s a pretty daunting task. That’s why Leo will get £1,000 from Holsten even if he misses."
As well as working for the London Ambulance Service for many years, Leo is also an actor who has performed small roles in Eastenders, The Bill, Grange Hill and Rumpole of the Bailey to name but a few.
"I’m so excited, this is absolutely wonderful," said Leo, "I’m going to enjoy it immensely."
