Hitchin Town 0-1 Spurs X1

Posted on 17 July 2004  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

A last-minute goal from Simon Dawkins secured a 1-0 win for a young Spurs X1 side over Hitchin Town this afternoon.

Wide man Charlie Daniels supplied the chance for Dawkins following good work involving Jack Maghoma and Danny Stevens.

Coach Pat Holland takes up the story...

"The first half was scrappy with neither side creating much. We changed it in the second half and bought Stevens on for Tommy Welch and put Charlie Lee back at centre half.

"It changed the game really, we got hold of it and started to play. We had the better of the second half after that.

"It was a lot brighter and, in the last minute, we had good movement down the left hand side and Maghoma threaded the ball through for Stevens, who then played Daniels in and he played a ball across the face of the goal that Dawkins tapped in at the far post.

"In fairness to the kids they did alright, they stuck to it on not the best of pitches. We are looking to change the formation this year and we were having a look at that. The first half was a bit frustrating and the second half they did ever so well."

Team: Eyre (Forecast), Kyriacou, Wright, Lewis (Mascarenhas), Welch (Stevens), Mills, Barcham (Heller), Lee, Seanla (Dawkins), Maghoma, Daniels.
