Hillier climbs Welsh ladder

Posted on 5 June 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Ian Hillier makes his full under-21 debut for Wales against the Ukraine in Kiev on Tuesday evening.

Following the young Welsh side’s 4-0 drubbing by Poland on Friday, manager Jimmy Shoulder has reacted by placing his faith in the versatile Hillier for the potentially tougher assignment against Ukraine.

Hillier, who has made three substitute appearances for the under-21s, can operate in virtually any defensive position. Our reserve team captain finished the season playing in central defence for Theo Foley’s side following the promotion of Anthony Gardner to the senior ranks.

Wales U21: Jason Jones, Hillier, Price, Gabbidon, Day, Valentine, Stephen Thomas, Gibson, James Thomas, Earnshaw, Maxwell. Subs: Whitfield, Green, DeVulgt, Slatter, Tolley.
