Heung-Min Son marked his Spurs home debut with a two-goal haul as we beat the Azerbaijani side 3-1 at White Hart Lane back in September to get our Europa League Group J campaign off to a fine start.
Now, as we prepare for matchday five, we face the same opponents once again in Baku, knowing a win would be sufficient to see us qualify for the knockout stages of the competition ahead of our home clash with Monaco in a fortnight’s time.
Fondly remembering his brace against Qarabag at the Lane, Sonny would love nothing more than to hit the target again tonight.
But he’s underlined how a good result for the team is his number one priority.
“It was an unbelievable feeling when we played them before because I scored twice on my home debut,” said the 23-year-old.
“It was difficult because they scored for 1-0 and perhaps we panicked a little, but then we came back.
“It’s not easy to play away but we will try 100 per cent. We want to win so we will give everything to get the victory.
“Of course, I try every game to score goals or make assists. The most important thing is not that I score, but that the team wins. I will try my best for the team and we’ll see how we get on.”
