The return of Ben Thatcher from a long-term absence at Tranmere on Tuesday was a particularly welcome bonus for the boss after a dreadful run of injuries at the start of the season.
The news was also good about Christian Ziege, who missed the Worthington Cup win with a sore knee and Goran Bunjevcevic, who is expected wear a protective mask on his improving fractured cheekbone.
Tim Sherwood also returned from a thigh injury in midweek which only leaves long-termers Stephen Carr, Gary Doherty, Steffen Iversen and Stephen Clemence on the sidelines.
Glenn revealed: “Christian Ziege has improved and Goran needs to get a mask sorted out so he will be able to go a bit more full throttle.
“Ben Thatcher did excellently for us in his first game back so all in all it’s getting a little healthier.
“You need a squad to choose from and these days it has to be a strong bench. Many games the crunch is in the last 20 minutes and games are won and lost in that time.
“We’ve got to look at that and hopefully, with more people getting fit, we’ll have a stronger squad.”
We are 9/1 to win 3-0 with 22/1 on a 4-0 triumph - click for details.
Glenn Hoddle is happy to report an upturn in fortunes on the injury front.
