Few people would have predicted the nature of our first goal of pre-season - not least the goalscorer himself!
That honour went to Aaron Lennon, who timed his run to perfection to meet John Bostock's cross with a bullet header into the corner to open the scoring against local side Tavernes in the first friendly of our training camp in Spain.
Aaron's opener paved the way for a demolition job in the second half as seven further goals followed with two each for Giovani dos Santos, Jamie O'Hara and Tomas Pekhart and one from Steed Malbranque.
But it was Aaron's goal that the squad has been talking about.
"Everyone I've spoken to since then has mentioned it and the fact that I can never ususally score with a header," laughed the winger.
"To be fair, I probably haven't scored a header since I was about 11!"
Coincidentally, Aaron followed up with another headed goal in a training practice match the next day - pictured below!
"It was a good moment for me - it felt great to score that first goal," he added.
