Gareth was named Young Player and Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers’ Association on Sunday night.
He’s only the third player to clinch the double and the first Spur to win the Player of the Year Award on two occasions.
The flying Welshman has scored 24 goals in 40 matches in all competitions so far this season, including 19 in 29 appearances in the Premier League.
“People ask me about Gareth whenever I’m interviewed and he’s always first to say it's all about a team game, but just look what he brings to the team,” said Michael.
“He has that magic, a yard of space and he can score. Look at West Ham away, that’s (the winner) not a chance, but it won us the three points. That’s what he can do.
“We’ve a great squad, great lads and Gareth is getting talked about as one of the best players in the world but he hasn’t changed a bit, he just wants to play his football, play golf and mess around!
“He’s a level-leaded lad, quiet, close to his family and friends and keeps himself to himself. He’s been fantastic this season and thoroughly deserving of his awards.”
