Hats off to JD!

Peter Crouch has expressed his delight for team-mate Jermain Defoe after his hat-trick heroics for England.

'JD' became the first Spurs player to bag a hat-trick for the Three Lions in World Cup or European Championship qualifiers/finals in Friday's 4-1 win against Bulgaria at Wembley.

'Crouchy' was also named in Fabio Capello's squad before being forced out through injury.

He might have played some part in the Euro 2012 qualifier himself - instead he admired JD's performance from afar.

"It's fantastic for Jermain and he took his goals really well," said Peter, who underwent a light training session on his own at Spurs Lodge on Monday.

"I was really pleased for him. I thought the movement for all his goals was fantastic, the way he took defenders away and made space for himself. He looked really sharp.

"I've played with him a lot and he's going to get goals whenever he plays.

"He's so sharp around the box and with that kind of movement England have the players who will find him and create the chances. As strikers, we all benefit from that."

As we reported on Friday, Jermain is the first Spurs player to score a hat-trick for England since Gary Lineker hit all four in a 4-2 friendly win against Malaysia back in 1991.
