Harry Redknapp was pleased with the experience gained from our short trip to Lisbon, from where we bring home the Eusebio Cup following victory over Benfica on Tuesday night.
The manager spoke before the game on the tough test we faced against the Portuguese champions and a true European heavyweight ahead of our own Champions League campaign coming up.
But Gareth Bale's second half goal was the highlight in a positive attacking display that yielded a 1-0 victory at the Estadio da Luz.
What's more, it puts our 4-1 defeat at the hands of Villarreal at the Lane last Thursday behind us with just one more pre-season friendly to play before the start of the 2010-11 season.
Harry said: "It was a good little run out for the team. Benfica are an excellent team and you could see in the first half the way they can play.
"It will be a good experience for us to come here and play against them with the Champions League games coming up.
"It is not an easy place to come, that's for sure, and we played some good football. There were some good individual performances - I thought Bale and Luka Modric were excellent on the left in the first half. Michael Dawson did well at the back also.
"We had a poor performance last week, which wasn't like us, so today was much better."
